Israel's Supreme Court has struck down a key component of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's judicial overhaul. The Likud party passed the law earlier this year to limit the high court's powers in overturning laws it deemed unconstitutional. However, the court said the law would damage "the core characteristics of the State of Israel as a democratic state.”
