An Indiana motorist who was trapped in his overturned pickup truck for six days was rescued on December 26th after two men spotted the wreckage under a highway bridge while they were fishing.
Mario Garcia and his son in law, Nivardo Delatorre, at first thought the man, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Reum, might be deceased when they stumbled on his vehicle, but, said Garcia, "the moment I touched the shoulder, he swung around. He woke up."
Reum's cell phone had fallen out of reach, stopping him from calling for aid.
After being freed from the wreckage, Reum was airlifted to a hospital in South Bend with life threatening injuries, authorities said, and remained in critical condition on December 27th.
