Former Labor MP Michael Danby says hostage negotiations between Israel and Hamas are likely to be set back following the recent air strike in Lebanon's capital.
Hamas confirmed on Tuesday its deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri had been killed in a drone strike on Lebanon.
The attack occurred in Daliyeh, one of Beirut’s southern suburbs, where Hamas ally Hezbollah has a stronghold.
Israel is yet to claim responsibility.
Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group issued a response to the drone attacks in a statement, stating the ”crime will not go unanswered or unpunished".
