Australia has signed onto a statement condemning the actions by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels for attacking commercial vessels sailing through the Red Sea.
This comes along with an increasing number of confrontations with Australian allies, including US warships.
The statement Australia is signing is in partnership with the United States, and the United Kingdom, amongst others totalling to 13 nations.
The US also just confirmed Singapore has now added their name to this statement.
The rebels have not only been conducting drone attacks but also the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles which were fired at these ships as well.
While most of Australia’s trade comes through the South China Sea, the Red Sea is still a critical waterway for global trade – 15 per cent of global trade goes through the Red Sea.
