Debris rained from the Kyiv night sky as Russia launched air attacks on early Wednesday (August 30), killing at least two people in the Ukrainian capital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
Orange balls of fire dropped from the sky as targets destroyed by Ukrainian air defences fell on several buildings in Kyiv, exploding into large clouds of fire and smoke.
The bodies of two people were found in a nonresidential building and one person was wounded by glass shards, Klitschko said, adding that debris fell in four places in the capital.
Meanwhile, firefighters were at the scene outside a large supermarket, which a Reuters eyewitness said was one of the buildings hit by debris. Kyiv authorities said several buildings were damaged by debris while officials in Kyiv region reported that several houses were also damaged by missile fragments.
