Hundreds of thousands have gathered at iconic landmarks in cities across the UK to celebrate as the clocks chimed midnight.
More than 100,000 people braved the cold on the banks of the River Thames in London to hear the chimes of Big Ben and watch the 12-minute firework display with millions more watching online or on television.
