Both Colorado and Maine have made efforts to remove Former President Donald Trump from their respective primary ballots, citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment as cause for removal. Trump has been temporarily put back on the ballot in Colorado after a challenge by the state's GOP party was sent to the Supreme Court. What happens next in Maine, and potentially, the rest of the country?
Former Governor of Vermont Howard Dean and Semafor Founding Editor at Large Steve Clemons join Yahoo Finance to weigh in on these developments and give insight into what the next move could be for Trump, Biden, and the courts.
"It's going to end up at the Supreme Court. The problem is the Supreme Court is, essentially, corrupt. They have been appointed to fit certain criteria by a very influential group of gazillionaires called the Federalist Society," Dean says. "Two of them have actually taken money from people that sat in on cases. So while the court legally, probably, has the final jurisdiction, I think most of Americans no longer are confident in the Supreme Court's ability to carry out its role as a result of the shenanigans that's gone on."
