Speaking on pro-Kannada protests, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on December 28 said that the government can’t tolerate people taking the law into their own hands. Addressing media persons, he said, “In a democracy, everyone has the right to protest. We can’t tolerate anyone taking the law into their hands. I am disturbed that they (pro-Kannada protesters) vandalized boards and establishments etc. Please obey the government’s 60 percent Kannada board order. We are committed to protecting the citizens of the state.”
