A video uploaded on social media by the Israeli army on Tuesday (December 26) was said to show weapons being found under a blanket in a child's bedroom in the northern Gaza neighbourhood of Tuffah.

Reuters was not able to independently verify the location or the date when the video was filmed.

A further unverified video was said to show Israeli troops operating in the same area.

Israel is determined to pursue its goal of destroying Hamas despite global calls for a ceasefire in the 11-week-old war, amid concerns the conflict could spread with U.S. and Iran-aligned forces attacking each other elsewhere in the region.

Israeli shellfire slammed into central Gaza on Tuesday, as residents of the coastal enclave mourned more dead in a war that has cost more than 20,000 Palestinian lives.
