Sky News host Chris Kenny has called for Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi to resign from the Senate after “slandering” her own country in a resurfaced speech.
Ms Faruqi addressed parliament in July last year to speak about the horrific floods in Pakistan, which killed more than 1,000 people.
In her speech, the Senator hit out at Australia’s “criminal inaction” on climate after the natural disaster.
“We must start a process of making climate reparations to the global south countries who are most harmed by Australia’s contribution to the climate crisis,” Ms Faruqi said in her speech.
Mr Kenny questioned if the Canberra press gallery is running a “protection racket” for the green left.
“This is disgusting and idiotic stuff coming from anyone, but coming from an Australian politician, someone elected to our national Senate – surely this is just beyond the pale,” he said.
