Israel has mistakenly killed three hostages in Gaza in a so-called friendly fire incident.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) ­admitted on Friday that it had shot three Israeli men who were being held in Gaza since they were ­kidnapped by Hamas on October 7.
Daniel Hagari, the IDF’s chief spokesman, said Israeli troops found the hostages and erroneously identified them as a threat. He said it was not clear if they had escaped their captors or been abandoned.
