In a Global News exclusive, a teenager in Ottawa has been arrested and charged by the RCMP in relation to an alleged terrorism plot against the Jewish community.
A tactical team was present during the arrest, as well as officers from the Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and High Explosives team over concerns about what the teen may have had in his possession. The suspect was ideologically motivated, according to authorities.
Global News' Mercedes Stephenson spoke with the Grade 10 boy’s father on Saturday. He said he was concerned about religious extremists trying to radicalize his son.
The news comes amid an uptick in hate crimes triggered by the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
